Google Play Games Expanding to Include PC Games
Google is set to bring more PC games to Google Play Games, aiming to increase the number of available games on the platform. In an effort to streamline the process, all mobile Android games will now be automatically available on Google Play Games on PC unless developers choose to opt out.
The initiative, originally launched in beta in 2022, has been gradually expanding its reach and offerings. As part of the expansion, Google is introducing a new “playability badge” system to highlight the performance of mobile games on PC. Games that meet quality standards will receive an “optimized” badge, while those meeting minimum requirements will receive a “playable” badge. Games with an “untested” badge will only be visible through specific searches.
Google is also investing in bringing more native PC titles to the platform, with plans to open up the program to all PC developers later this year. Additionally, Google is expanding accessibility by offering the full catalog of games on AMD laptops and desktops, as well as partnering with PC OEMs to integrate Google Play Games into new devices.
With multi-account and multi-instance support set to roll out this month, Google aims to make Google Play Games on PC widely available by the end of the year.
