‘It is very touching and very stupid’: Katamari Damacy creator can’t wait for us to experience the final scene of his new game

The latest project from renowned game designer Keita Takahashi, famed for his work on Katamari Damacy, is set to take players on a whimsical journey with a unique twist. The game, titled To a T, introduces us to a character named Teen, who finds themselves in a rather peculiar predicament—perpetually stuck in a T-pose, a default stance often seen in 3D modeling and sometimes associated with glitchy video game characters.

Gameplay and Concept

In To a T, players will assist Teen in navigating the challenges of everyday life, all while grappling with their immovable arms. Takahashi describes the gameplay as intentionally simple, emphasizing a humorous approach that prioritizes enjoyment over complex mechanics. During a recent interview at FGS Live from Gamescom LATAM, he highlighted a particularly amusing moment where Teen brushes their teeth, stating, “No smart game design, game mechanic, nothing, nothing. Just press a button and then spit the water. That’s it. I like that.”

This lighthearted philosophy is mirrored in the game’s catchy soundtrack, with the latest trailer featuring the infectious tune, Cooking is so ah-mazing…, which has already captured the attention of fans.

Availability and Promotions

As anticipation builds for To a T, players can also explore Takahashi’s earlier works. The second installment of the Katamari series, Reroll, is currently available on Steam for just . While the original Katamari Damacy is also listed, it is not on sale at the moment; however, it typically drops to .49 during promotional events, making it worth the wait for savvy shoppers eyeing the upcoming Steam Summer Sale.
