Here Are 40 Minutes of Gameplay From Tides of Annihilation

YouTube’s ‘TapTap: Discover Great Games’ has released a 40-minute gameplay video for the upcoming title, Tides of Annihilation, showcasing a demo from Gamescom 2026. The game features a third-person adventure with a spectral knight dual-fighting system, allowing players to craft combos in high-speed battles set in a modern-day London with a medieval twist. Players will face over 30 unique bosses, many inspired by the Knights of the Round Table, and explore Gwendolyn’s origin through a narrative of revenge, reunion, and redemption. Tides of Annihilation will support Path Tracing on PC and NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, with hopes for AMD FSR 4.0 and Intel XeSS 2.0 support. The release date is currently undisclosed.

August is the calm before the storm for this year’s new game releases

August 2026 is a calm month for PC gaming, with several notable releases and updates. The full release of Fields of Mistria 1.0 is scheduled for August 5. Other new titles include ReStory: Chill Electronics Repair and Sovereign Tower on August 6, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, which also releases on August 6. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection 2 and Star Wars Zero Company are set to launch on August 27. Key gaming events include Quakecon's 30th anniversary starting on August 6 and Gamescom beginning on August 26. The month features themed Steam sales, including Cyberpunk Fest from August 3-10, Pins and Pegs Fest from August 17-20, and PvE Survival Crafting Fest from August 31 to September 7. Updates and DLCs include the Man of Honor DLC for Mafia: The Old Country on August 14, Hell Rising DLC for Nioh 3 on August 19, and the Cost of Hope DLC for Stalker 2 on August 20. Microsoft Weekly: Xbox outage, fake Windows apps, new Windows 11 updates, and more

Microsoft has released two Cumulative Update Previews: KB5101681 for Windows 11, which includes calendar-based Windows Update pausing, a quieter Widgets experience, and enhanced accessibility features; and KB5101684 for Windows 10, which introduces Voice Isolation for Voice Access and new precision touchpad gesture controls. The company reported a record billion quarter for fiscal year 2026, with an 18% year-over-year increase, and Azure's annual revenue surpassed billion for the first time. Microsoft 365 Copilot's paid seat count exceeded 30 million. Xbox experienced a significant outage due to a failure in a shared licensing service, but services have since been restored. The voice of Lady D and Orin the Red will be back for the next D&D videogame

Baldur's Gate 3 showcases the successful adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons principles into a video game RPG. Wizards of the Coast is developing a new title called Warlock, a third-person action-adventure game inspired by God of War, through its internal studio, Invoke. Maggie Robertson will voice the protagonist's patron, Tasha, who is an archfey and will grant players eldritch abilities. Tricia Helfer is also involved in the game. Gameplay is expected to be revealed at Gamescom, scheduled for August 26–30 in Cologne.

Xbox Announces Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, Metro 2039, Minecraft Dungeons 2 and More for Gamescom

Xbox will return to Gamescom from August 26th to 30th, featuring 25 playable titles including Stranger Than Heaven, Alien: Isolation 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft Dungeons 2, and Metro 2039. Players can engage with the multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 4, and Playground Games will present a live demonstration of Fable's combat mechanics. Attendees will experience the campaign of Gears of War: E-Day before its launch. Other titles include Alien Deathstorm, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Turok Origins, and Valor Mortis. Halo: Campaign Evolved and the Drift Attack mode in Forza Horizon 6 will also be available. Live broadcasts are scheduled for 7 AM PST on August 26th and 27th, featuring interviews and gameplay reveals. Gamescom Opening Night Live will occur on August 25th, showcasing titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past and Silent Hill: Townfall.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are getting some more base map reworks — just in time for their console release?

SCS Software is working on upcoming downloadable content (DLC) and significant base map reworks for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. For American Truck Simulator, Nevada will be reworked to revitalize existing locations, introduce new ones, and expand the road network, including new segments of US-95 and additional depots. Euro Truck Simulator 2 will see a transformation in the UK, with new locations such as Inverness, Stonehenge, and Leeds, along with a revamped EuroTunnel. Both games are anticipated to be released on console platforms, with progress being made, although a specific release date has not been provided. The Witcher 3’s expansion reveal is scheduled for next month

CD Projekt Red announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3 titled Songs of the Past, set to release in 2027. The expansion is co-developed with Fool's Theory and aims to provide a substantial experience similar to the Blood and Wine expansion. A reveal will take place on August 25 during Gamescom's Opening Night Live event. Denshattack! (PC) Review

Denshattack! is a cel-shaded trick-based 3D platformer developed by the indie studio Undercoders in Barcelona, Spain. The game features a protagonist named Emi Araki, a 19-year-old ramen delivery driver in Beppu, Japan, who dreams of riding the VACTRAIN, an underground train. The narrative involves Emi leaving her hometown to confront the mega-corporation Miraidō, which governs the state and operates the VACTRAIN. Players engage in gameplay inspired by classic titles, performing stunts and achieving high scores across 60 levels in eight regions. The game includes boss battles, a scoring system, and a vibrant visual style complemented by a notable soundtrack featuring guest composers. Despite some navigation challenges and minor imperfections, Denshattack! has been well-received for its engaging gameplay and artistic presentation.
