Final Fantasy XIV Is Ending Windows 10 Support, Though You’ll ‘Likely’ Still Be Able To Play

Square Enix has made a significant announcement regarding its popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, revealing that support for Windows 10 will conclude on October 14, 2025. This date aligns with Microsoft’s own timeline for ceasing security updates and support for the operating system.

Transitioning to Windows 11

In a statement, the publisher reassured players that while they may still be able to access Final Fantasy XIV on Windows 10 systems post-support, any technical assistance related to issues stemming from the operating system will be limited. “You will likely be able to play FINAL FANTASY XIV on Windows® 10 systems even after the end of support,” Square Enix noted. However, they emphasized that support would generally not be available for problems arising from Windows 10.

Moreover, the system requirements for the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV are set to undergo an update on the same date. The transition will see a shift from Windows 10 64-bit to Windows 11 64-bit, accompanied by an increase in CPU requirements. For minimum system requirements, the recommended Intel Core i7-7700 will be upgraded to an Intel Core i5-8400 or higher. Meanwhile, the recommended system requirements will maintain the Intel Core i7-9700 benchmark.

Upcoming Content and Features

As the gaming community eagerly anticipates the arrival of patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, scheduled for early August, excitement is palpable. This patch will introduce a fresh wave of Main Scenario Quests, exploring the aftermath of the recent Dawntrail expansion and the intriguing developments within Solution Nine.

Additionally, players can look forward to the next chapter of the Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XI crossover raid series, Echoes of Vana’diel, featuring San d’Oria: The Second Walk. Longtime fans of Final Fantasy XI will likely appreciate the hidden easter eggs and references woven throughout the new series of encounters.

For those still utilizing Windows 10, the impending shift to a new operating system appears unavoidable. As the end of support approaches, now may be an opportune moment for players to explore their options moving forward.
