Samsung has introduced an innovative feature in its Device Care app, version 13.8.80.7, aimed at enhancing user experience by tackling the pervasive issue of notification spam. This new capability allows users to automatically block applications that inundate their devices with unsolicited advertisements, a common annoyance for many smartphone users.
Streamlined Notification Management
The feature specifically targets what Samsung refers to as “frequent advertisement alerts.” When an app is identified as a repeat offender, Device Care places it into a state known as Deep Sleep, effectively silencing its notifications until the user decides to reactivate it. This proactive approach not only minimizes distractions but also empowers users to regain control over their notification settings.
Users have two distinct options for managing notification spam. The first, Basic blocking, utilizes Samsung’s internal data to identify and restrict known ad-spamming applications. The second option, Intelligent blocking, offers a more dynamic solution by analyzing notifications in real-time to determine if an app is excessively pushing advertisements.
While Samsung acknowledges that this feature is not infallible, it provides users with the ability to monitor which applications have been restricted. This can be accessed through the path: Settings -> Device care -> Care report -> Excessive alerts. Currently, this feature appears to be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series, raising questions about its availability on older devices, particularly as it seems to be tied to the rollout of One UI 8.5.
As the update is being released in phases via the Galaxy Store, users can check for the latest version of Device Care by navigating to the menu and selecting Updates. For those who do not see the update immediately, patience may be required, as it could take several days or weeks to become universally available.
