Google is playing with a new look for voice search

Google is currently refining its voice search functionality within the Google app, focusing on enhancing user experience with a fresh interface. This update introduces a toggle for the “Auto search” feature, allowing users greater control over how their voice queries are processed.

New Features in Voice Search

Traditionally, voice search has been designed to initiate as soon as the user pauses their speech, which can sometimes lead to premature searches if the pause is prolonged. With the introduction of the Auto search toggle, users can now disable this automatic feature, enabling them to complete their thoughts without interruption.

Visual elements of this new interface include a pill-shaped toggle positioned above four newly designed buttons at the bottom of the search page. This design not only enhances usability but also adds a modern touch to the overall aesthetic of the app.

In addition to the toggle, users will notice two distinct animations depending on the state of the Auto search feature. When Auto search is activated, a short, chunky waveform pattern appears as users speak. In contrast, disabling Auto search triggers a more fluid, side-scrolling waveform animation, providing a visual cue that complements the user’s input.

While these features offer exciting possibilities for improved interaction, the timeline for their official rollout remains uncertain. The information comes from an APK teardown, a process that analyzes the underlying code of the app to predict future updates. However, it’s important to note that not all features identified in such analyses may make it to the final public release.
