Soulslike game Wuchang is officially getting a sequel developed by its creator’s new studio after the original team reportedly disbanded

In a notable turn of events for the gaming industry, the 2025 soulslike title Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has proven to be a significant success for its developers, Leenzee, and publisher, 505 Games, amassing an impressive five million players across various platforms. Despite initial skepticism regarding its potential, the game’s reception has exceeded expectations.

Earlier this year, however, the landscape shifted dramatically when reports surfaced from the Chinese publication Gamersky, indicating that Xia Siyuan, the game’s director and producer, had been dismissed from Leenzee. This shakeup also saw a number of other staff members reportedly let go, raising concerns about the future of the Wuchang intellectual property.

In April, the situation took another twist when the Wuchang IP was sold to Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, for approximately .6 million. This transaction left the fate of the franchise uncertain, leaving fans and industry watchers wondering what lay ahead.

New Beginnings for Wuchang

Today, however, a fresh chapter has begun. 505 Games has announced a new partnership with Xia Siyuan, who is now at the helm of his own studio, Indolphinity (Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology). This collaboration aims to develop a sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, reigniting hope for fans of the series.

This development signals a promising future for the Wuchang franchise, reassuring fans that the original creative vision is being preserved and expanded upon. As the gaming community eagerly anticipates what Indolphinity will bring to the table, the collaboration between Xia Siyuan and 505 Games marks a significant step forward for the series, ensuring it will not fade into obscurity.
