If you play games a lot, you probably already know that Google Play Games tracks your achievements. However, it appears that the app might soon go a step further. Recent evidence suggests that Google is working on a new Android auto screen recording feature, which will capture your best gaming moments. This tool will come in handy if you forget to hit the record button before starting a level.
Here’s how Android’s auto screen recording feature will work while gaming
According to the folks over at Android Authority, in version 52.4.41-34 of the Google Play Store, there’s evidence that Google’s working on a new feature. In the code, there are text strings describing an “Auto-capture Achievements Playback” functionality. Google seems to have designed this to trigger a screen recording without you having to do anything manually.
While there aren’t many details in the code, we can assume that when you finally beat a tough boss or complete a 100 percent run, your phone will record the video evidence for you. It’s worth mentioning that the code mentions that this feature might cause a drop in frame rate during busy gaming moments.
The recording process works in the background, which takes up some of your handset’s processing power. This means some older devices might struggle a bit when this functionality kicks off.

At the moment, it’s still unclear how much video footage the app will record before and after the achievement appears on your device. However, saving just a few seconds on either side would likely be enough to capture the action to show off your achievement.
