The latest lineup of Xbox and PC Game Pass titles has been unveiled, promising an exciting array of games for the latter half of August. At the forefront is the eagerly anticipated day-one release of Resonance: A Plague Tale, developed by Asobo. This new installment serves as a prequel, weaving a narrative across dual timelines set on the picturesque island of Crete.
Having had the opportunity to experience Resonance: A Plague Tale, I found it to be an exhilarating shift from the series’ traditional stealth mechanics, embracing a more combat-centric approach. The game combines stunning visuals, intricate puzzles, and breathtaking ruins, evoking the adventurous spirit reminiscent of titles like Tomb Raider and Uncharted.
Another title generating buzz is Blood Dungeon, a day-one Game Pass release from Messhof, the creators of the popular Nidhogg. Known for its low-fi, swashbuckling duels, Nidhogg was a staple in local co-op gaming, and Blood Dungeon appears to take a Metroidvania approach, promising a fresh experience for players.
As the month progresses, it’s essential to note that the Remastered edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be departing Game Pass at the end of August. For those who have yet to dive into this epic adventure, now is the time, especially with a new expansion on the horizon.
