Hyderabad Companies Face Disruptions Due to Microsoft Windows Outage

Several companies in Hyderabad experienced significant disruptions on Friday as a result of the global Blue Screen of Death issue caused by the Microsoft Windows outage. The problem began in the morning when employees in various IT firms tried to start their workday, only to be greeted by the dreaded blue screen error, making their computers unusable.

This unexpected issue led to widespread panic and frustration as critical operations came to a standstill. IT departments in affected companies were working tirelessly to resolve the problem, but many employees were still unable to access their workstations at the time of the latest reports. This disruption has resulted in a notable loss of productivity and has impacted project deadlines.

An employee from a major IT organization in Hyderabad shared, “The team tried everything, but couldn’t reboot the computers. One person managed to turn on the computer, but soon after, his computer also encountered the blue screen error and couldn’t log in again.”

While the impact of the outage in Hyderabad varies, many companies have redundancies in place to ensure that their workflow is not severely affected. Prashanth Nandella, president of Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, mentioned that most banking operations were not significantly impacted due to these backup systems.

In the midst of the chaos, developers collaborated to come up with a workaround for individual booting systems to bring them back online:

  1. Press F8 or Shift + F8 to boot Windows into safe mode or the Windows recovery environment.
  2. Navigate to this directory on the system – C:WindowsSystem32driversCrowdStrike.
  3. Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys” and delete it.
  4. Restart the computer.
