Google Wallet rolling out stacked card list redesign on Android

In a significant update to its user interface, Google Wallet for Android has introduced a stacked list redesign aimed at enhancing the accessibility of credit and debit cards. This change follows an earlier update to the lower section of the homepage, reflecting Google’s ongoing commitment to improving user experience.

The previous carousel design, which displayed only a glimpse of adjacent cards, has been replaced with a more intuitive layout. Users can now view one complete card at a time, with a partial preview of a second card visible above. This streamlined approach allows for easier navigation; users can simply tap or swipe down to expand the view into a fullscreen layout that showcases more details of each card.

At the bottom of the screen, a “Manage payment methods” option provides users with the flexibility to reorder their cards and designate a default option. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who prefer quick access to their most frequently used payment methods.

For those looking to tap-to-pay, selecting a card remains straightforward. However, to access card details and transaction history, users will now find a new settings gear icon located in the top-right corner of the interface. While this adds an additional step compared to the previous design, it offers a more organized way to manage card information.

This redesign, which began rolling out in September, is now becoming widely available through a server-side update. Users across various devices have reported seeing the new layout, which is designed with one-handed use in mind, particularly advantageous for those whose preferred cards are positioned at the bottom of the list.
