Bringing Windows 11 Aesthetics to Windows 10
For many people, a new version of Windows is mostly about a fresh look and feel. With most users barely exploring the full range of features in the operating system, appearance can play a crucial role.
You might be among those who find little incentive to switch from Windows 10 to Windows 11, or perhaps the hardware requirements pose a barrier. Regardless of your reason for sticking with Windows 10, there’s a clever trick to enjoy some of the aesthetics of Windows 11.

While there are plenty of skinning and theming applications available to make Windows 10 resemble Windows 11, the method we’re discussing here doesn’t require any additional software. However, you will need access to a Windows 11 PC to transfer some files to your Windows 10 system.
Thanks to the compatibility of the theming engines used in both Windows 10 and Windows 11, it’s feasible to bring over certain design elements from the newer OS to the older one. This observation was made by user Bob Pony:
It’s possible to backport theme from Windows 11 (even 24H2 works) to Windows 10 version 20H1-22H2 by copying its theme resource files over!
The DWM animations remain the same as in Windows 10, but the visual style, such as scroll bars and buttons, is from Windows 11. pic.twitter.com/OmrSc2Aqcd— Bob Pony (@TheBobPony) July 16, 2024
As highlighted in the post, achieving a Windows 11-like appearance in Windows 10 is as straightforward as copying the Resources folder. You’ll require a tool like Iobit Unlocker to copy the files since they are actively used by Windows.
Both Bob Pony and XDA Developers (to whom credit goes for sharing this tip) emphasize that the changes are subtle; you’ll notice updated scrollbars and button styles, among other visual tweaks.
