2K removes launcher from Steam and Epic titles

In a significant shift for gamers, 2K Games has officially phased out its launcher from all titles available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This decision follows the company’s announcement last month regarding the impending sunset of the launcher technology, set to take effect in November. Additionally, a beta version of the launcher was removed from Sid Meier’s Civilization 5, marking a clear transition towards a more streamlined gaming experience.

Streamlined Gaming Experience

In a recent blog post, 2K Games provided guidance for players to ensure a smooth transition. The company emphasized the importance of fully closing and reopening Steam, rather than simply minimizing the platform. “Rebooting your PC is a good way to be sure it happened,” the post advised, encouraging users to take these steps to facilitate the changes.

For those utilizing the Epic Games Store, 2K recommended ensuring that the latest game updates have been downloaded. This proactive approach aims to enhance user experience by eliminating unnecessary launch barriers.

As a result of this update, popular titles including BioShock Remastered, BioShock 2 Remastered, BioShock Infinite, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns will now launch directly when players hit the play button. This streamlined process is expected to provide a more efficient and enjoyable gaming experience for fans of 2K’s diverse portfolio.
