A fanmade Jak and Daxter 3 PC port is now in beta, finally making Naughty Dog’s most underrated trilogy fully available on PC

Fans of the beloved Jak and Daxter series have reason to celebrate, as all three iconic titles from Naughty Dog have made their way to PC with native ports. The recent beta release of Jak 3 by the team at OpenGoal marks a significant milestone, completing the trilogy’s transition to the platform. As reported by Time Extension, this development means that players can now enjoy the entire series in a “feature complete and fully completable” format on PC.

Enhanced Gaming Experience

While Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is the only title not yet classified as beta, both Jak 2 and Jak 3 do present some minor audio bugs and graphical inconsistencies. However, for those willing to overlook these imperfections, the opportunity to experience the full Naughty Dog series on PC is enticing. Players can now immerse themselves in the adventure with enhancements such as widescreen support, 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, and modding capabilities. It is important to note that players must possess original copies of the games to extract the necessary files for installation.

This wave of nostalgia is not limited to Jak and Daxter. The gaming community has also witnessed remarkable fan-driven projects, such as the anticipated 2025 release of Sonic Unleashed Recompiled, which is being hailed as one of the most impressive endeavors in recent memory. Additionally, the Nintendo 64 classic Banjo-Kazooie has received a fanmade PC port that boasts 60 FPS and widescreen support. The series creator even paid homage to the game in a whimsical tribute, echoing the charm of the original character Gruntilda: “Recompiled, oh my word! People just love the bear and bird!”

As the lines between nostalgia and modern gaming continue to blur, the availability of these classic titles on PC not only enhances accessibility but also invites a new generation of players to experience the magic of these timeless adventures.
