Amazon’s idea of improving Luna involves stripping back most of it

Amazon Luna Streamlines Service, Removes Key Features

Amazon Luna users are facing changes to the cloud gaming service as Amazon announces the removal of game purchases, third-party subscriptions, and game stores. The simplification of Luna’s offerings is set to take effect on April 10, leaving some players with fewer options.

Previously purchased games and Bring Your Own Library titles will remain playable on Luna until June 10, giving users time to adjust to the new changes. However, subscriptions to Ubisoft Plus and Jackbox through Luna will be automatically canceled after one final renewal at the end of the current billing cycle.

Amazon attributes the decision to player feedback, stating that users want easy access to great games and that more content is now available to Prime members. While the move may streamline Luna’s service, it also limits the ways in which players can access and enjoy games on the platform.

As the cloud gaming landscape continues to evolve, users are reminded of the trust issues that come with relying on a company’s servers for game access. Amazon’s latest changes to Luna serve as a reminder of the control that companies hold over the games players enjoy.
