Apex Legends is poised for a significant transformation with the upcoming release of Season 27, aptly named Amped. As players hustle to complete the current battle pass and elevate their ranks, a wave of changes is set to reshape the gaming landscape. Renowned for its dynamic gameplay, Respawn Entertainment is once again ready to implement substantial updates that promise to enhance the player experience.
Loot Distribution Overhaul
One of the most pressing concerns among players has been the loot distribution following the introduction of drop zones. Many have voiced frustrations over landing in areas with inadequate loot, which can severely impact their chances in subsequent encounters. In response, the lead ranked designer, Clement Bachellerie, has confirmed that adjustments are on the horizon for Season 27.
Bachellerie stated, “Players felt that the game was a bit unfair when they were dropping on a POI that has less loot or less quality loot than another POI.” While the total number of items on the map will remain unchanged, Respawn aims to minimize the disparity between different points of interest (POIs), fostering a more equitable playing field for all competitors.
Ranked Points Rebalancing
In addition to loot adjustments, the method of earning Ranked Points (KP) is also undergoing a revision. Season 26 placed a heavy emphasis on placement, leading to a somewhat stagnant mid-game as players prioritized positioning over engagement. To address this, Bachellerie explained, “Placement was a bit too strong and players were feeling that kills were not valued enough.”
The upcoming season will see a recalibration of KP from placement, striking a balance between the aggressive playstyle encouraged in Season 25 and the strategic positioning favored in Season 26. This shift is anticipated to inspire a more action-oriented approach among players, invigorating the competitive atmosphere.
Improvements for Solo Players
For those who prefer to brave the ranked arena alone, a highly anticipated feature is set to enhance the solo queue experience. Previously, connecting with a teammate met in solo queue required a cumbersome process of exiting the game, adding them as a friend, and re-queuing. Now, players will be able to re-queue as a team with a simple click, streamlining the experience significantly.
Bachellerie acknowledged that this feature is a “pretty standard” addition for live-service games, and expressed satisfaction in finally enhancing the solo player experience. This change is expected to foster a sense of community among solo players, allowing them to forge connections more easily.
As anticipation builds for the patch notes set to be released later today, the ranked changes in Season 27 are poised to provide a smoother and more engaging experience than its predecessor. Apex Legends Season 27 is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, November 4, and players are eager to explore the new dynamics it will bring.
