Colantonio candidly admitted that he abandoned the remake due to its challenging gameplay, stating, “I tried the one that came out a year or two ago. I got stuck in cyberspace. That gameplay was too hard. I was frustrated by it. But the rest was really cool, until then.” His remarks highlight a common sentiment among gamers: while the overall experience may be enjoyable, certain elements can detract from the enjoyment.

Indeed, the cyberspace segments of System Shock have garnered mixed reviews. In the remake, these sections were reimagined as a six degrees of freedom (6DOF) experience, diverging significantly from the core gameplay. Following the success of Weird West, his new venture, WolfEye Studios, is developing a “retro sci-fi first-person” game that promises to echo the essence of Prey.
