In a notable display of enthusiasm from the gaming community, pre-orders for the highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds have surged, positioning the title as the third best-performing game on Steam last week. This surge in pre-launch purchases comes just ahead of its scheduled release on February 28, indicating a robust excitement surrounding Capcom’s latest addition to its esteemed action RPG series.
Steam’s Top Performers
The climb to the third spot marks a significant achievement for Monster Hunter Wilds, especially considering that back in 2019, following the successful launch of Monster Hunter Worlds, Capcom had already established a strong foothold in the PC gaming market. During that period, the PC version of the franchise emerged as the second best-performing title, further solidifying its popularity.
Meanwhile, Counter-Strike 2 reclaimed its position at the top of the charts, while Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 made a commendable debut, rising to second place just days after its February 10 release. Despite only having one day of chart data available at launch, the strategy title’s performance has been impressive.
In contrast, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 experienced a slight decline, dropping three positions to fourth place, even as it celebrates crossing the two million sales milestone. On the other hand, Apex Legends made a remarkable leap, rising 22 spots to secure the fifth position, coinciding with the release of a new season of content.
The rest of the top ten saw some movement as well, with Valve’s Steam Deck, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Marvel Rivals each slipping one position to sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
