Civilization meets Crusader Kings in Liegecraft, a strategy game coming to PC in 2025

Polish development studio From Chaos has unveiled its debut title, Liegecraft, set to launch on PC in 2025 through Steam Early Access. This innovative game combines the strategic depth of 4X gameplay with character-driven RPG elements, reminiscent of a blend between Civilization and Crusader Kings. Players will step into the shoes of a medieval monarch, tasked with building a prosperous realm while navigating the treacherous waters of political intrigue and vassal management.

Gameplay Dynamics

In Liegecraft, the threats to your kingdom are multifaceted. While external adversaries may eye your territory with envy, the real danger often lies within. Players must skillfully manage their vassals, who are eager to exploit any missteps and seize the throne for themselves. Each character in the game possesses unique personality traits, strengths, and flaws, which significantly influence their interactions and behaviors. Mastering the art of diplomacy—whether through feasts, hunts, or even dungeon adventures—will be crucial in maintaining loyalty and stability within your realm.

Every playthrough promises a fresh experience, featuring a new map and a diverse cast of characters. A scenario editor will empower players to create custom challenges, with mod support already confirmed to enhance the game’s longevity and replayability.

Visual and Strategic Inspirations

The battles in Liegecraft draw inspiration from the beloved Heroes of Might and Magic series, further enriching the strategic tapestry of the game. From Chaos is a small but experienced team, comprising five members with backgrounds at renowned studios such as CD Projekt RED, Paradox Interactive, and 11 bit Studios. This collective expertise brings a wealth of knowledge in both strategy and RPG genres to the development of Liegecraft.

“We wanted to create a 4X strategy game where progress is tangible and emotions are real,” shared From Chaos CEO Tomek Dietrich. “Your unique characters are the beating heart of Liegecraft’s gritty medieval world. The choices you make will weigh heavily on your conscience, as stories and quests unfold with consequences that extend beyond mere statistics.”

Dietrich emphasized the studio’s journey, stating, “We’ve been working on Liegecraft for a couple of years now, navigating incredible ups and downs. Our studio name, From Chaos, reflects our experience. Now, we are excited to engage with fans of Civilization, Crusader Kings, and Heroes of Might and Magic, fostering a community-driven development as we approach our early access release.”

With its unique blend of strategy and character-driven storytelling, Liegecraft is poised to capture the attention of strategy enthusiasts when it arrives on PC in 2025.
