Diablo 4’s adding a wave-based roguelite mode in Season 5

Diablo 4’s Fifth Season Introduces Infernal Hordes Mode

Diablo 4’s upcoming fifth season will bring a new mode called Infernal Hordes, offering players a unique roguelite experience. By using an item called the Infernal Compass, players can enter the Realm of Hatred and face timed waves of enemies. Defeating these enemies will result in dropping burning aether, which can be used to acquire “Boons & Banes” between waves to enhance gameplay.

Players who successfully navigate through the waves will encounter the Fell Council, a trio of minibosses randomly selected from a pool of five. Overcoming these challenges will grant access to the Spoils of Hell, where players can obtain Equipment, Materials, Gold, and Greater Equipment with powerful Greater Affixes.

The Infernal Compasses required for the Infernal Hordes challenge can be obtained by clearing endgame bosses, Helltides, Nightmare Dungeons, and Whispers. By upgrading the compass using scrolls found in the game, players can unlock eight tiers of challenges, each offering higher rewards for facing tougher enemies.

In addition to the new mode, the test realm for season 5 will feature quality of life improvements for endgame bosses, making them easier to defeat in succession without resetting the dungeon. Other enhancements include improvements to Helltide, Whispers, loot, treasure goblins, and expanded weapon usability for different classes. Auto-pin, audio navigation, and on-screen compass accessibility features are also in the works to enhance the overall gaming experience.
