Dune: Awakening finally gets long-awaited character transfers

In a significant update for the survival MMO Dune: Awakening, version 1.2.40.0 has been released, bringing with it a highly anticipated feature: character transfers. Players are now afforded the freedom to relocate their characters from their original servers, allowing them to explore new horizons and communities within the game. However, it’s essential to remember to pack all your belongings before making the move.

New Transfer Features and Guidelines

Funcom, the developer behind the game, announced that players can now transfer not only their characters but also their inventory, backed-up bases, vehicles, and bank contents, including Solari, to a new Sietch and World. Each player has been granted a transfer token, which will replenish weekly after use, enabling one server transfer per week.

While the process is designed to be straightforward, players should note that transfers are not instantaneous and may take a few minutes to complete. Additionally, there are specific restrictions in place: transfers from private servers to official servers are not permitted, likely to maintain a level playing field among players. However, players can transfer from official servers to private ones. If a character name already exists on the target server, a name change will be necessary before the transfer can proceed.

To ensure a smooth transition, Funcom has provided a comprehensive checklist for players to follow:

  • Utilize the Base Reconstruction Tool to back up your base. Remember, you can store up to three bases using this tool.
  • Failing to back up your base(s) means they will be left behind during the transfer.
  • Vehicles should also be backed up with the Vehicle Backup Tool.
  • For larger vehicles that do not fit within the Vehicle Backup Tool, players can disassemble them using the Welding Torch and store the parts in their bank or base storage, underscoring the importance of backing up your base.
  • If the Vehicle Backup Tool limit is exceeded, players can disassemble any additional vehicles and store their components.
  • Ensure that all valuables are stored in your inventory and bank, as these will be transferred alongside your character.
  • Finally, confirm that your character is located in Hagga Basin before initiating the transfer, as the process cannot commence if your character is not on this map.
