FromSoftware Addresses Performance Issues in Elden Ring Steam Version
Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has acknowledged performance issues in the Steam version of the game, particularly after the release of the DLC expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. Users have reported inconsistent performance, which has been a recurring problem since the game’s original release on certain PCs.
In response to these concerns, FromSoftware has suggested a potential solution for players. In a tweet from the official Japanese FromSoftware Player Support account, players have been advised that running external mouse control software in the background could impact the game’s frame rate stability.
The tweet reads, “In the PC version of Elden Ring, the frame rate may not be stable when playing the game while running a mouse-control related app. In that case, please try playing the game after stopping the mouse-control related app.”
According to reports from Automaton, players have already started sharing this workaround. One user identified the compatibility issue with a mouse gesture app and temporarily turning it off resolved the stuttering problem they were experiencing.
VGC’s review of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC praised it as a “sequel-sized sensation,” describing it as an incredible expansion that surpasses the original game in many aspects. The DLC has received high acclaim on Metacritic, currently holding the title of the highest-rated DLC ever with an average critic score of 95.
