This new studio is poised to release their multiplayer arena brawler, Nubs!: Arena, on May 15. Reviving a Vision
The journey to Nubs!: Arena has been anything but straightforward. Following Ronimo Games’ unfortunate bankruptcy in 2023, which abruptly halted an unnamed project, four former team members, including the CEO, decided to regroup and breathe new life into their ambitions. Olivier Thijssen, co-founder of Rangatang, reflected on the state of the original project, describing it as “a super complex half-finished game with a lot of wires sticking out everywhere.” The transition to a smaller team necessitated significant adjustments, leading to the decision to streamline the game’s features.
In collaboration with Glowfish Interactive, the team has managed to refine their original vision while salvaging and repurposing numerous assets from their previous work. This partnership has been instrumental in revitalizing the project, allowing the developers to maintain the essence of their initial concept while adapting it to their new capabilities.
Gameplay Dynamics
Nubs!: Arena promises an engaging multiplayer experience, offering local matches for up to four players and online PvP battles accommodating as many as 20 participants. Players will begin with basic weaponry, but the battlefield is rich with opportunities to scavenge for superior gear or claim it from defeated foes. Success hinges on quick reflexes and strategic use of roguelite buffs, all while navigating a treacherous environment filled with spikes, lava, and other hazards.
