Once you’ve ventured through the eerie landscapes of Silent Hill f and completed your initial playthrough, a wealth of new experiences awaits you. The game’s New Game Plus mode introduces an array of fresh items, unexplored areas, and alternative endings, with the coveted Sacred Sword playing a pivotal role in your journey. For those aiming for a comprehensive experience and seeking to unlock every ending, acquiring the Sacred Sword at least twice is essential. Below, we outline the steps to obtain this special weapon, locate it, and purify it during your gameplay.
How to get the Sacred Sword in Silent Hill f
To secure the Sacred Sword in New Game Plus, players must first gather five key items and present them to five Jizo statues. While these statues are visible in the standard mode, interaction is only possible once you possess one of the required offerings. The five items you need are:
- Faded Bride Doll
- Rusted Flask
- Broken Japanese Geta Sandals
- Cracked Hibachi Brazier
- Dad’s Old Kitchen Knife
Faded Bride Doll
The journey begins with the Faded Bride Doll, which can be found early in the game. Before fully descending into Ebisugaoka, explore a house to the east. Ascend to the upper floor to retrieve the Treasure Hunting Game Key. With this key in hand, return downstairs and unlock the treasure chest in the kitchen to unveil the doll. Once secured, exit the house and head south, taking a left at the first opportunity to discover the first Jizo shrine opposite a post box. Here, you can offer the doll.
Rusted Flask
Your next target, the Rusted Flask, is positioned in front of Sakuko’s family shrine in the northern section of the map. This item can be collected en route to Rinko’s house with Shu. To locate the Jizo Shrine, retrace your steps southward, take the first left, and turn left again into a small garden where the shrine is nestled behind a building.
Broken Japanese Geta Sandals
Before entering the middle school, you can acquire the Broken Geta Sandals. As you approach the school, pivot back towards the southern pathway, which is currently blocked. The sandals lie just in front of this obstruction. The corresponding Jizo Shrine is located on the opposite side of the blockage, necessitating a detour. Look for a small house with a path along the left side, leading you to the shrine.
Cracked Hibachi Brazier
When your objectives guide you to Shu’s house, the Cracked Hibachi Brazier becomes accessible. Navigate to the back of Shu’s house and down the right side of a shed to find the brazier resting on the ground. Afterward, return to the front of Shu’s house and follow the path west until you spot stairs on your right. Ascend the stairs to discover the Jizo Shrine.
Dad’s Old Kitchen Knife
Himanko’s dad’s kitchen knife is lodged in a tree to the east of Shu’s house, but it can only be retrieved when your current objective is to ‘Make your way down the mountain and head to the Shimizu residence.’ The nearby Jizo Shrine is conveniently located; simply turn back from where you found the knife, take the first left, and the shrine will be directly in front of you. Notably, all these items remain in your inventory across New Game Plus saves until they are offered at a shrine.
Sacred Sword location
Upon making all five offerings, the Sacred Sword becomes available at the Thousand Year Cedar. As you approach the tree, a cutscene unfolds, automatically granting you the sword once it concludes. However, if your intention is to achieve the bad ending, it’s advisable to avoid the tree altogether. Triggering the cutscene necessitates purifying the sword to obtain the bad ending, as detailed below.
How to purify the Sacred Sword
If you inadvertently acquire the Sacred Sword and wish to unlock the bad ending—or if you’re pursuing the true ending that requires purification—you can only achieve this in the Main Hall of The Dark Shrine while in pursuit of Fox Mask. To purify the sword, complete the Crimson Water Puzzle, which is exclusive to NG+ saves. During the ‘Chase after Fox Mask’ objective, head down a southeastern staircase from the Main Hall – 2nd Floor, which is concealed behind a breakable wall.
Once inside the new Hermitage of Crimson Water area, navigate to the stone in the oval area at the northern part of the map and interact with it. It’s advisable to trigger the puzzle first before attempting it. You will need to interact with three bells in a specific order, synchronized with sporadic auditory hints resembling wood sounds. First, return over the bridge and turn left, following the path to the building. The first bell is located on the back balcony; wait for the auditory signal before ringing it. Next, rush back to where you interacted with the stone to find the second bell hanging from a tree. Ring it promptly after hearing the tone. Finally, cross back over the bridge, turn right, and find another bell hanging from a tree on your left. Ring this bell in time with the next wooden clacking sound. If executed correctly, crimson water will begin to flow.
However, the actual purification of the sword occurs back in Ebisugaoka, behind Shu’s house, where the crimson water now fills a stone vessel. Interact with the water to complete the purification process.
With these steps accomplished, the Silent Hill f Sacred Sword is now yours, whether purified or not.
