Roblox is changing the eligibility to upload games on the platform

Roblox is implementing new publishing requirements to enhance safety for its younger audience. Developers must now meet specific criteria based on the target audience of their games. For games intended for all ages, developers must subscribe to Roblox Plus, pass ID verification and age checks, enable two-factor authentication, and maintain an account in good standing. For games aimed at players aged 16 and older, developers need to have an account in good standing, maintain an account that is at least two days old, and pass age verification checks. These requirements do not apply to developers creating games solely for personal enjoyment. The changes are part of a strategy to strengthen moderation systems and will begin rolling out in early June.

DayZ creator Dean ‘Rocket’ Hall has over 2,000 hours in Kerbal Space Program and played the original XCOM at Mount Everest base camp: ‘I think when I die, I will still be playing that game’

He enjoys playing Ostranauts, accumulating at least 150 hours per playthrough, and is looking forward to its upcoming update. Hall has also played the original XCOM for around 600 hours over the past year. He has nearly 5,000 hours in Stationeers, a game developed by his studio, and over 2,000 hours in Kerbal Space Program. His favorite game is Space Station 13, where he plays a character named Colton Murphy. For non-gaming software, he relies on Rider for programming development. Hall maintains a very clean desktop, regularly organizing it for security and efficiency in his game development process.

In contrast, Windows OEMs face challenges with component sourcing, build quality, and reliance on bloatware. There is potential for Microsoft to create a Windows Neo variant that meets user needs, while the sustainability of current business models for Windows OEMs is uncertain.

Roblox and Minecraft players are less likely to play traditional AAA video games

The demographic of these players is often younger, leading to a reluctance to invest in pricier AAA games. Bristol pensioner shared naked child picture with undercover cop on messenger app

A 72-year-old man named Cyril Taylor received a suspended prison sentence after admitting to sending an indecent image of a child via the messaging app Kik, not realizing he was communicating with an undercover police officer. He was sentenced to nine months in prison for two offenses but had the sentence suspended for 18 months due to a "realistic prospect of rehabilitation." Taylor previously faced convictions for possessing and distributing indecent images of children and had a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) issued in early 2023, which prohibited him from using social media applications with direct messaging capabilities. Despite these restrictions, he downloaded Kik in June 2023 and sent an indecent image of a child aged around nine or ten years old. Law enforcement discovered him deleting the app after being notified of his actions. In total, he has two convictions for seven offenses, including a breach of the SHPO involving Facebook Messenger in April 2024. The judge imposed a suspended sentence of nine months, mandated 100 hours of community service, and required participation in 26 rehabilitation sessions.
