If you think Stalker 2 is buggy, please take your seat in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Last week’s exploration of the quirks within Stalker 2 revealed a nostalgic parallel to an issue I encountered in Stalker: Call of Pripyat back in 2010. Rather than inciting frustration, this particular bug evoked a sense of warmth, reminiscent of an old car whose radio inexplicably cranks up when the headlights are switched on. It’s an oddity that, while peculiar, poses no real threat.

However, the same article also highlighted how benign glitches can swiftly morph into sources of irritation. A prime example was an artifact I was tasked with retrieving that simply failed to appear, compelling me to revert to a much earlier save and costing me an hour of hard-earned progress. This was far from the comforting nostalgia I had initially felt.

Flight Simulations and Their Quirks

In the realm of flight simulations, the journey can be just as unpredictable. A Reddit user, ArCeyDu3, recently shared a humorous yet frustrating experience while attempting to take their private pilot license exam, hindered by a bug that left them grounded.

Meanwhile, another user, nihileternumest, embarked on an ambitious mission to fly from Jacksonville, Florida, to Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport in Spain—a staggering distance of approximately 4,300 miles. The challenge lies in the choice of aircraft: a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, which boasts a mere 800-mile range. This daunting 32-hour flight is curiously rated only 3 stars in difficulty.

The world of flight simulations is rife with reported bugs, ranging from players spawning at an astonishing altitude of 88,000 feet to helicopters mysteriously teleporting and landing upside down. Some glitches elicit laughter, while others can lead to significant frustration. As for me, I think I’ll hold off on diving into both Stalker 2 and the flight simulator for a couple of weeks, allowing time for some much-needed bug fixes before risking any further progress loss.
