I’m unsure how much of a detective game Artificial Detective will be, but I enjoyed the bit in the trailer when your character attacks a robot with a massive drill

In a notable development within the gaming industry, a new title has emerged that promises to captivate players with its unique premise. During this week’s Xbox Partner Preview, Vivix, a fledgling studio comprised of former developers from acclaimed titles such as Dead Space, Control, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, unveiled their latest creation: Artificial Detective.

Exploring a Futuristic Metropolis

Set in a dystopian future where humanity has mysteriously vanished, Artificial Detective invites players to step into the role of a robotic detective navigating a sprawling metropolis now dominated by machines. The city is not only a technological marvel but also a perilous landscape, teeming with animals afflicted by a bizarre nanotechnological disease. As the titular detective, players are tasked with unraveling the enigma of humanity’s disappearance and the circumstances that led to this robotic takeover.

The game’s Steam page hints at a nonlinear gameplay experience, suggesting that while it may not be entirely open world, players will have the freedom to explore various avenues. Notably, players will have the opportunity to “ride a flying streetcar” across ten distinct districts, engaging in sandbox-style encounters that allow for a mix of shooting, stealth, and environmental manipulation—elements reminiscent of immersive simulation games.

Companionship plays a significant role in the journey, as players will be aided by a small child and a robotic dog, enhancing the exploration experience and adding layers to the narrative.

While the reveal trailer showcased stunning visuals and action-packed sequences, it left some questions regarding the detective elements of gameplay. Observers speculate that the structure may resemble the recent God of War titles, offering a technically open-ended experience while guiding players through a more directed narrative. However, the absence of traditional detective mechanics in the trailer raises expectations for a game that bears the name Artificial Detective.

As anticipation builds for its release next year, many are eager to see how Vivix will blend action and investigation in this intriguing new title. The gaming community awaits further details that will clarify the balance between action and sleuthing in this promising adventure.
