Industry vet Mesmar joins Beyond Good and Evil 2 team

In a significant development for the highly anticipated Beyond Good and Evil 2, Fawzi Mesmar has officially joined the team as its creative director. His announcement, made via LinkedIn and highlighted by GI.biz, marks a new chapter for the project, which has been in the works for several years.

Fawzi Mesmar’s Journey

Mesmar brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Vice President for global creative at Ubisoft since November 2021. His impressive career includes notable positions at renowned companies such as DICE and King, where he honed his skills in game development and creative direction.

In his LinkedIn post, Mesmar expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I have been working with those peeps for years now on this ambitious game and witnessed their talent firsthand.” His words reflect a deep appreciation for the collaborative efforts that have shaped the game thus far.

Taking the reins from the late Emile Morel, who tragically passed away in 2023, Mesmar acknowledges the legacy of creativity that precedes him. He remarked, “I am standing on the shoulders of creative giants that have supported the team before me,” emphasizing his commitment to honoring the vision established by his predecessors.

The current iteration of Beyond Good and Evil 2 was first unveiled in 2017, following an earlier version that began development in 2008. As anticipation continues to build among fans, Mesmar’s leadership is poised to steer the project toward its goal of delivering a truly unique gaming experience.
