The IJF brings card-battles to Minecraft
Along the way, players will not only learn the eight judo values but also collect special cards that are used in a way never seen before in Minecraft. These cards represent well known judo throws such as o-uchi-gari and uchi-mata. Players use these cards in the arena and see their avatars perform the techniques on the mat.
Teaching the values of judo through ‘Minecraft:
Journey to the Great Shiai’ offers players an exciting new Minecraft experience that is fun to play, challenging, educational, and gives players the chance to visit the great Games in Paris. A life-sized version of the capital city, where the Great Shiai is being held, is the final destination of this journey. By using all the skills and values players have learned along the way, this is where they become true champions.
Education through gaming
With the release of our Minecraft world, the IJF offers judo education to millions of children worldwide on the values of judo, through gaming, which we have been doing since 2021. Just like our previous worlds, Journey to the Great Shiai will not only be available on the Marketplace, but also on the Minecraft Education Edition.
Through this education platform, teachers, educators and students worldwide can play our world for free in their classrooms. The IJF is the first federation in history to work with this platform.
