Linux users can finally stream games via GeForce NOW

GeForce NOW on Linux only works with Ubuntu right now

Earlier this month, NVIDIA made an exciting announcement for Linux users – GeForce NOW is now available on the platform. This means that gamers on Linux can now enjoy streaming their favorite games from various clients like Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox, Ubisoft Connect, and more. Unlike the browser-based option for Chromebooks, this is a dedicated app for Linux, promising a smoother gaming experience.

There is a small catch, though. Currently, GeForce NOW on Linux only works with Ubuntu, specifically version 24.04 or later. NVIDIA has mentioned that they plan to expand to other Linux distributions in the future, but no specific timeline has been provided yet.

It’s important to note that the Linux app is currently in beta, so occasional hiccups may occur. While the overall experience is expected to be smooth, beta versions often come with a few glitches that users should be prepared for.

In addition to the Linux app launch, NVIDIA has also added several new games to the GeForce NOW library. Some of the new releases include The Midnight Walkers, Cairn, Prototype and Prototype 2 on Ubisoft Connect, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on Xbox, Half Sword (RTX 5080-ready), Vampires: Bloodlord Rising, The Bard’s Tale Trilogy, The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut, and Total War: Three Kingdoms.
