MindsEye hotfix promised for the end of this week as Steam rating sinks back down to ‘mostly negative’
In the wake of a challenging launch, Build a Rocket Boy, the developer behind MindsEye, is diligently addressing the game’s performance issues. Following a tumultuous debut that saw its Steam rating oscillate between “mostly negative” and “mixed,” the team has committed to working “around the clock” to enhance the gaming experience. The first in a series of anticipated patches is expected to roll out for PC users by the end of this week.
Addressing Performance Concerns
On launch day, the developers acknowledged the game’s demanding minimum system requirements, which they noted are “very high.” In a candid exchange on Reddit, they reassured players that efforts are underway to optimize performance for both mainstream hardware and consoles. A recent update on Steam provided further insights into the team’s ongoing initiatives.
Currently, Build.MindsEye is fully accessible to players, and the team is also focused on rectifying issues related to missing downloadable content (DLC). They have pledged to ensure that this content is added to players’ accounts as swiftly as possible.
The release of MindsEye has indeed been tumultuous, highlighted by the abrupt cancellation of a sponsored stream with popular streamer CohhCarnage, which occurred just as the broadcast was set to begin—a rare occurrence in the streaming community.
Player Feedback and Reception
While the technical challenges are significant, the broader concern for Build a Rocket Boy lies in the overall quality of MindsEye. Although a formal review has yet to be published, PC Gamer’s Tyler Wilde shared his initial impressions after two hours of gameplay, suggesting that the early negative feedback from players may have been justified. He noted that while the game ran relatively well on his aging RTX 2070 Super GPU, it still exhibited frequent graphical issues, leading to a less than favorable experience.
Despite these challenges, Build a Rocket Boy has encouraged players to continue sharing their feedback through various support channels, including Discord, Reddit, and social media. The team has expressed its commitment to listening to all player comments, even those that are critical, as they strive to improve MindsEye for its community.
