As anticipation builds for the upcoming release of the Mounts of Mayhem drop scheduled for December 9th, the team has taken a significant step by shipping the first Release Candidate today. This version is poised to be the one that will officially launch on Tuesday, provided no critical issues arise.
Changes
Spear Weapon
- Enhancements have been made to the Spear weapon, notably:
- The duration for which the Spear can inflict knockback during charging has been increased.
- Charge Attack animations have been refined to better align with the various phases of the Spear.
Get the Release Candidate
The Release Candidates are now accessible for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the Release Candidate, players should navigate to the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots within the “Installations” tab.
It is crucial to note that testing versions may corrupt your world; therefore, it is advisable to back up your data and/or run these versions in a separate folder from your main worlds.

In preparation for the removal of obfuscation from Java Edition, players can also access a non-obfuscated experimental version of this snapshot via the Minecraft Launcher. The steps to do so are as follows:
- Download the zip file.
- Unpack the folder into the “versions” directory of your local Minecraft application data folder.
- Start (or restart) the Launcher.
- Create a new launch installation and select the “unobfuscated 1.21.11 Release Candidate 1_unobfuscated” version.
- Launch the game, and the remaining files will be downloaded automatically.
