Mojang Studios has unveiled exciting details regarding the latest public testing update for Minecraft. As anticipation builds for the first content update of 2025, players can now explore a range of new features through the latest Java snapshot.
New Features in the Update
- New Cow Variants: The update introduces two charming cow variants. The first is the cold cow, known for its fluffy coat that brings a cozy vibe to cold biomes. The second is the auburn warm cow, which can be spotted in sandy environments.
- Foliage Enhancements: Mojang continues to enrich Minecraft‘s vibrant world with new plant life. Players will discover the firefly bush, which attracts dancing fireflies at night, illuminating the surroundings. This bush thrives in swamps and near bodies of water, and players can even bury it under other blocks for a sparkling effect.
- Additional Plant Life: A new, unassuming bush has also been introduced, sprouting in various green biomes such as forests and plains.
- Ambient Sounds: The update enhances the auditory experience in desert biomes. Players can expect to hear whispers of sand and other ambient sounds emanating from clusters of sand and terracotta blocks. The dead bush will add to this atmosphere with the sounds of chirping crickets, rustling twigs, and howling winds as players traverse the vast desert landscape.
To incorporate these soothing desert sounds into their own creations, players can place the dead bush on two sand blocks or cluster several sand or terracotta blocks together.
These fresh features, along with six new gameplay elements introduced last month, are now accessible in Minecraft: Java Edition. Players eager to experience the update can enable snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition or activate previews/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
