After a prolonged period of anticipation, Minecraft is finally enabling players to craft their own saddles, a feature that promises to enhance the gaming experience by allowing more time spent on adventures rather than searching through chests. This exciting update is currently available for testing.
Crafting Saddles: A New Era
Saddles have been a part of Minecraft since 2010, originally serving as a means to control various mounts. Initially, players could only find them in dungeon chests. Over the years, as the roster of rideable creatures expanded—from horses to pigs and camels—the methods of obtaining saddles evolved as well. Today, players can fish for them, trade with villagers, or collect them from defeated mobs. Despite these options, acquiring a saddle has often felt like a chore.
The latest testing update simplifies this process significantly. Players can now craft a saddle using just three pieces of leather and one ingot, making the prospect of mount-based exploration far more accessible. Additionally, players can now remove saddles from pigs without the need for drastic measures, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
In conjunction with the new crafting feature, Mojang has also introduced five new ambient music tracks composed by Amos Roddy. These tracks are inspired by features slated for Minecraft’s second major update in 2025. Furthermore, a new jukebox music disc titled “Tears” can be obtained by defeating hostile ghasts in the Nether, adding another layer of excitement to the game.
All these features are currently available for testing through Mojang’s latest Java snapshot and the newest Bedrock beta/preview update, although Android users are currently excluded. These updates are set to officially launch as part of the anticipated second major update of 2025. Players can also look forward to the ongoing testing of Minecraft’s striking Vibrant Visuals makeover, which has been in development since April.
This year marks a significant milestone for Minecraft, fueled by the immense popularity of its live-action movie adaptation featuring Jack Black. For those wishing to recreate the cinematic experience at home, the film has just been released digitally, providing an opportunity for fans to enjoy the adventure in a new format.
