In a significant development within the gaming industry, Boston-based developer The Molasses Flood has officially merged with the renowned Polish gaming powerhouse, CD Projekt Red. This transition, effective April 1st, marks the conclusion of The Molasses Flood as an independent entity, as announced on their official website. The studio, known for its unique titles, has assured fans that this merger will not impact their previous games, including the critically acclaimed The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow.
Future Endeavors
Currently, The Molasses Flood is channeling its creative energies into Project Sirius, an ambitious multiplayer game set within the expansive universe of The Witcher franchise. This project promises to blend the studio’s distinctive style with the rich lore of one of gaming’s most beloved series.
In the wake of this merger, Damian Isla, the founder of The Molasses Flood, has announced his departure from the studio. In a heartfelt message shared on LinkedIn, Isla reflected on the journey of The Molasses Flood, stating, “Obviously this is a big change. TMF has been a huge part of my life for the past decade plus, and I’m proud to have been a part of building something that lasted as long as TMF did, in a market environment often quite hostile to tiny teams like ours.”
He continued to express gratitude for the experiences and relationships forged during his tenure, highlighting the creativity and camaraderie that defined the studio’s culture. “I think we made some beautiful, memorable and quirky things, and I’ve also gotten to work with some of the kindest, most generous and talented people in the industry,” Isla noted, encapsulating the spirit of innovation that The Molasses Flood has brought to the gaming landscape.
