New Minecraft Movie Clip Focuses On A Date Night For Unlikely Couple

Warner Bros. has unveiled a whimsical new clip for the highly anticipated A Minecraft Movie, steering away from the traditional elements of building and crafting that fans might expect. Instead, the focus shifts to an unexpected romantic encounter, featuring Jennifer Coolidge, known for her role in White Lotus, as she embarks on a date with a CGI Villager.

Love in the Blocky World

The newly released trailer, aptly titled Be Mine, showcases a humorous dinner scene set in an upscale restaurant. Coolidge’s character, fresh from a divorce, humorously reflects on her past relationship, stating, “I recently got divorced from my husband, Clemente, and the main reason is, you know, he didn’t have any personality. Not like you.” The camera then pans to the Villager, whose animated unibrow bobs with excitement, adding a layer of charm to the interaction.

The comedic tone continues as a waitress approaches the couple, inquiring if they are “finished.” Coolidge’s character quips back, “I think he’s Swedish,” a clever nod to the origins of Minecraft, which was developed by Swedish creator Markus “Notch” Persson and produced by the Swedish studio Mojang.

Earlier this year, audiences were introduced to the film’s antagonist, a Piglin named Malgosha from the Nether, in a previous trailer. This sneak peek also provided a first look at Coolidge’s character, who makes a memorable entrance by colliding with a Villager in what is described as a meet-cute moment.

Apart from Coolidge, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Hansen, and Jack Black. Interestingly, Black initially wasn’t slated to voice the character of Steve, but has since revealed his gaming preferences, which surprisingly do not include Minecraft or any Super Mario Bros. titles.

With its unique blend of humor and creativity, A Minecraft Movie is set to hit theaters on April 4, promising a delightful experience for audiences of all ages.
