Microsoft Teams just made it easier to shut down Copilot and other AI tools

Survey says this is the best Play Store alternative, but Google might not agree

In a recent poll of nearly 3,000 participants, F-Droid was the most favored alternative to the Google Play Store, receiving 37.7% of the votes. Aurora Store followed with 17.4%, Samsung’s Galaxy Store garnered 16.3%, APKMirror received 13.7%, and Obtanium had 11.9%. F-Droid is an open-source app store that does not replace the Play Store, lacking popular apps like Spotify and Gmail but offering open-source alternatives. Aurora Store allows access to the Play Store's catalog without a Google account but does not support purchases made through the Play Store.

Samsung’s Wearables app leaks with an all-new look to get ready for new watches

How to Enable Windows 11 CPU Boost

Modern processors can automatically adjust their clock speeds based on demand. Windows 11 includes a feature called CPU boost that allows users to manage CPU performance responsiveness, balancing power efficiency and performance. CPU boost modifies how often Windows prompts the CPU to enter boosted states without changing the maximum turbo speed or hardware limitations. Users can select aggressive settings for improved responsiveness or less aggressive modes for reduced heat and power consumption. To enable CPU boost, users can either modify the Registry Editor or use a command in the Command Prompt. Once enabled, users can configure their preferences in the Control Panel under Power Options. Available boost mode settings include Disabled, Enabled, Aggressive, Efficient Enabled, and Efficient Aggressive, with options varying by CPU model and Windows version. Monitoring performance and system metrics after selecting a mode is recommended.

Microsoft Edge 150 Adds Google Account Sign-In on Windows and macOS

Microsoft has introduced the ability to sign into its Edge browser using a Google account, starting with version 150 on Windows and macOS. This feature allows users to integrate their Google accounts alongside Microsoft accounts and is being rolled out gradually. System administrators can manage this feature through the NonMicrosoftAccountSignInEnabled policy, which organizations can enable or disable based on compliance and security needs. Edge 150 is the last version compatible with macOS 12 Monterey, and users are encouraged to upgrade to macOS 13 Ventura or later. The update has transitioned the Workspaces feature to a new architecture but removed the sharing function. Users can sign in to Google accounts by updating to version 150.0.4078.48 or newer and following the sign-in process in Edge Settings.

Google Play Store widgets will soon be available for individual Collections

Google Play Store has introduced a feature called Collections, allowing users to group apps by categories like Shop, Listen, and Food. The latest updates indicate that Google is developing new widgets for the Play Store that will enable users to select individual Collections instead of displaying multiple at once. In version 52.1.26-31 of the Play Store Android app, users currently have two widget options: a compact version with icons for individual Collections and a larger widget listing Collections. The upcoming update will allow users to choose from eight distinct widgets corresponding to categories: Food, Game, Listen, Read, Shop, Social, Travel, and Watch. These new widgets are still in development and not yet available for public use.

Windows 11 has exceeded 70 per cent of Steam users for the first time

Windows 11 has surpassed 70% among Steam users, now at 70.44%. Windows 10 has declined to 23.56%, while Windows 7 is used by 0.07%. Overall, Windows holds a 94.10% share on Steam, with Linux at 3.69% and macOS at 2.21%. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU is now the most common graphics card at 4.02%, overtaking the RTX 3060 at 3.88%. Intel leads the processor market with 55.08%, and AMD has 44.92%. The preferred RAM configuration is 16 GB at 41.57%, and 1920×1080 resolution is the most popular display choice, with a rise in 2560×1440 monitors.
