Over half of Arc Raiders players on Steam have barely engaged with PvP, and 19% have never even killed another player

In a recent gaming session of Arc Raiders, an unexpected encounter unfolded. While looting a cache, I was ambushed by another player wielding a shotgun. Armed with only a humble Kettle peashooter, I managed to turn the tables and secure a victory, earning the Steam achievement Unyielding: Knock out 10 raiders (42.3%). This experience was surprisingly tranquil, reflecting a broader trend within the game’s community, where players seem to navigate the Rust Belt with a notably peaceful demeanor.

Achievement Insights

Upon closer examination of the achievement statistics, it becomes clear that my experience is not an isolated incident. A mere 42.3% of Steam players have unlocked the Unyielding achievement, suggesting that over half of the player base—approximately 57.7%—shares a similarly pacifistic approach. This statistic is particularly striking for an extraction shooter, indicating a unique cultural shift within Arc Raiders.

Even more intriguing is the earn rate of another achievement, Crossed the Threshold: Knock out a raider (81.3%). Remarkably, 19% of PC players have not engaged in combat with other players at all since the game’s release nearly two weeks ago. This statistic adds an unexpected layer to the gameplay dynamics.

While achievement metrics can be somewhat misleading—encompassing all players who have purchased and launched Arc Raiders, including those who may not have played extensively—the data suggests a significant level of engagement. Nearly 90% of Steam players have completed the tutorial and dealt 1,000 damage to the game’s environment, indicating a solid foundation of player activity.

In a delightful twist of social interaction, the same percentage of players who have engaged in combat (81.3%) have also participated in a more amicable activity: The Friends We Made Along The Way: Return to Speranza together with an encountered Raider. This balance of aggression and camaraderie paints a fascinating picture of the community within Arc Raiders.
