Peripheral maker Corsair says Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PC in ‘early 2026,’ then immediately yoinks it back

Grand Theft Auto 6 remains poised for a console debut this fall, while the prospect of a PC version continues to linger in the realm of speculation. Recently, during a quarterly financial call, Ronald van Ween, the vice president of finance and investor relations at Corsair Gaming, sparked a wave of excitement with a mention of a potential PC launch. However, that enthusiasm was quickly tempered as Corsair promptly retracted his statement.

Speculation and Clarification

In response to inquiries about the influence of upcoming titles on hardware sales, van Ween remarked, “GTA 6 is probably the one everyone is talking about. We’ll get a glimpse of that, I think, later on in the year for console. My understanding now, it’s going to come out in the fall for console, and then early ’26 for PC.” This timeline suggests a significant gap between the console and PC releases, reminiscent of historical patterns observed since the days of Grand Theft Auto 3. Typically, the shortest interval between console and PC launches has been around seven months.

If GTA 6 adheres to its anticipated fall 2025 release, and aligns with Take-Two’s previous turnaround times, the PC version might not surface until April or May of 2026—essentially placing it in the mid-2026 timeframe. However, shortly after van Ween’s comments gained traction, Corsair issued a clarification to IGN, stating that he was merely speculating and that no official PC release target had been communicated by either Take-Two or Rockstar.

This swift retraction leaves some room for contemplation. For those who enjoy pondering the intricacies of corporate communications, it’s worth recalling a similar incident involving Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who inadvertently confirmed the existence of Mortal Kombat 12 during an investors call. Given that outcome, one might wonder if Corsair’s follow-up was prompted by a less-than-pleased response from Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick. While such theories remain purely speculative, the excitement surrounding GTA 6 continues to captivate gamers and industry watchers alike.
