Rhea Seehorn’s early foray into acting, where she portrayed a sorceress in the 1997 Magic: The Gathering PC game, has recently captured the attention of social media, particularly in light of her current success in the series Pluribus.
From Sorcery to Stardom
Created by the acclaimed Vince Gilligan, Pluribus showcases Seehorn as Carol, navigating a post-alien invasion world where humanity has found solace in a collective hive mind. The first season concluded just before the holiday season, and Seehorn’s performance has already earned her the prestigious Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actress.
As Pluribus continues to gain traction, clips from Seehorn’s debut have resurfaced, going viral across various platforms. In a nostalgic throwback, a snippet from the tutorial of Magic: The Gathering reveals Seehorn’s early work, where she dons a sorceress persona. The complete 90-minute tutorial is available for viewing on YouTube, inviting both fans of the game and newcomers to witness her beginnings.

Reflecting on her experience, Seehorn humorously recounted, “It was so low-budget that they didn’t have shoes but they wanted it to look like we were wearing gladiator sorcerer boots or whatever, so we were just wearing tube socks with electrical tape in crisscross fashion.” She also shared a memorable moment from her early career: “I was so excited that my photo was on the back [of the game’s case] that I went to Best Buy and I couldn’t afford whatever the game cost back then, maybe or something. I showed them my picture on the back and told them it was me. I asked ‘could you give me a copy’ and they were like ‘no. What is wrong with you?’”

Following her role in Magic: The Gathering, Seehorn’s career progressed with appearances in Homicide: Life On The Streets and a recurring role in the comedy I’m With Her. Her breakout performance as Kim Wexler in the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul, solidified her status in the industry, although she has yet to return to the realm of video games.
In a recent discussion, Gilligan addressed a fan theory likening Pluribus to a real-life version of Grand Theft Auto, showcasing the show’s intriguing narrative depth. Meanwhile, fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 are buzzing over a newly uncovered Easter egg quest that has remained hidden for over seven years, adding to the excitement surrounding video game storytelling.
