September’s first wave of Xbox Game Pass games revealed, and it brings RuneScape to console for the first time

The latest lineup for PC and Xbox Game Pass in September has been unveiled, revealing a somewhat sparse selection of titles. Among the highlights is the much-anticipated co-op survival game, Dragonwilds, which marks a significant milestone for the RuneScape franchise as it makes its debut on console. Unlike the traditional MMO that fans are familiar with, Dragonwilds is an innovative open-world survival crafting game, reminiscent of popular titles like Valheim and Enshrouded.

Here, somewhat ironically, is a PlayStation trailer for RuneScape: Dragonwilds. It’s coming to PlayStation Plus as well. Watch on YouTube

Having been in early access since last spring, the full 1.0 release of Dragonwilds on September 15th via Game Pass is highly anticipated. Early feedback has been promising, with Steam reviews reflecting a “very positive” reception. Our resident RuneScape expert, Lottie, expressed enthusiasm after previewing the game last year, which adds to the excitement surrounding its launch. Dragonwilds will be available on Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC, making it accessible to a wide audience.

In addition to Dragonwilds, players might find interest in SpeedRunners 2, a competitive co-op platformer that follows the success of its predecessor on Steam. Another intriguing title is The Royal Writ, a medieval roguelike deck-builder that made its debut on PC last summer. However, for those considering a nostalgic trip, the six-year-old Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is also on the list, though it may not be the first choice for many gamers.

It’s important to note that several notable titles will be leaving Game Pass soon, including Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Cells, and Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, all of which are worth exploring before their departure.
