Super Smash Bros Melee just got an Android port (Updated)

Super Smash Bros Melee Unofficially Ported to Windows

Super Smash Bros Melee, a beloved GameCube game, has recently been unofficially ported to Windows and Linux by developer 999sian. This exciting news comes just days after the game was fully decompiled, allowing for fan ports to be created.

The melee-pc project, as it is called, builds on the work of the doldecomp group and utilizes the Aurora graphics compatibility layer. However, users will need to provide their own US version of the Super Smash Bros Melee disk image (v1.02) due to legal reasons.

Features of this unofficial port include internal resolution sliders, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, an FPS counter, gamepad support with remapping, and more. Despite the initial v0.1.0 beta release, the developer has already rolled out updates, with the latest v0.1.2 build showing promising progress.

Android Port Update

Additionally, the developer offers an Android port of Super Smash Bros Melee, but it was initially reported as broken. However, the latest v0.1.1 beta release seems to have fixed the issues, making the game playable on Android devices.

While there may still be some bugs to iron out, the developer’s track record with previous ports, such as The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, instills confidence in the future of the Super Smash Bros Melee ports. Another fan port called melee-unlocked has also been released, utilizing AI technology for enhanced gameplay.

Overall, the community is excited about these unofficial ports and looks forward to further updates and improvements from the dedicated developer.
