Tango is “considering” a Hi-Fi Rush sequel

Japanese developer Tango Gameworks is exploring the possibility of a sequel to their acclaimed 2023 title, Hi-Fi Rush. In a recent conversation with IGN, studio head Colin Mack shared insights into the studio’s contemplative journey regarding a follow-up project. While he refrained from making any definitive announcements, he expressed a positive outlook on the idea of a sequel.

Creative Possibilities on the Horizon

Mack stated, “We are considering a sequel positively. We are not yet at the stage where we can say specifically, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’” This sentiment was echoed by Hi-Fi Rush director John Johanas, who noted the deep affection many team members have for the original game. “Many of our staff have a lot of love for Hi-Fi Rush, so we feel like we have options. We’re currently at the stage of considering various opportunities,” Johanas remarked.

Project manager Kazuaki Egashira added another layer to the discussion, emphasizing Tango Gameworks’ commitment to innovation and evolution. “Hi-Fi Rush became popular as a new IP, but if Hi-Fi Rush were to stay the same forever, it would eventually become outdated,” he explained. Egashira highlighted the studio’s ethos: “I think Tango Gameworks is about taking on new challenges. I hope to continue to work in a way that puts developers at the center, without losing our passion.”

This collective vision suggests that Tango Gameworks is not merely resting on the laurels of their recent success but is instead poised to embrace new creative avenues, ensuring that their offerings remain fresh and engaging for audiences in the future.
