The Last of Us Part II Remastered arrives on PC in April 2025

Something to look forward to: Naughty Dog has unveiled an exciting development at The Game Awards 2024: The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to make its debut on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on April 3, 2025. Gamers can already find the title listed on both platforms, adorned with a “Coming Soon” banner and a variety of enticing pre-purchase offers, including an ammo capacity upgrade and a crafting training manual.

Details on the PC Release

Publisher Sony and developer Naughty Dog have confirmed that the highly anticipated PC version of The Last of Us Part II will retain the gripping narrative that captivated audiences on the PlayStation 5, which was released earlier this year. Mathew Gallant, the game director at Naughty Dog, emphasized that the PC adaptation will not only mirror the PS5 experience but also introduce “rich combat mechanics and extensive behind-the-scenes commentary.” The team has dedicated significant effort to ensure that PC gamers enjoy high performance and a wealth of features.

While the specific system requirements for the PC version remain under wraps, there is hope among gamers that it will not demand ultra-high-end hardware, unlike its predecessor, which posed challenges for mid-tier PCs.

The anticipation surrounding The Last of Us Part II’s PC release has been building for some time. Earlier this year, well-known leaker Billbil-kun from Dealabs hinted that the porting process had been completed. The speculation suggested that Naughty Dog and Sony strategically chose to delay the launch until 2025 to coincide with the second season of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us, expected in Q2.

Players can expect the PC version to encompass nearly all features available in the PS5 edition, including the beloved guitar free play and developer commentary on the Lost Levels. Additionally, the game will introduce the roguelike survival mode, No Return, which allows players to forge their own paths through a series of randomized encounters, testing their skills in a dynamic environment.

However, there is a caveat: a PSN account will be required to access The Last of Us Part II on PC, mirroring the trend seen in other recent first-party PC releases from Sony. This requirement first emerged with Helldivers 2, which faced backlash leading to the cancellation of the mandatory sign-in. Despite this, subsequent titles such as God of War Ragnarok, the Until Dawn remake, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut have all launched with the PSN sign-in stipulation, a policy that Sony has maintained despite considerable pushback from the gaming community.
