The new Path of Exile 2 Druid class is about to transform the ARPG, and you can try it for free

Of all the updates for Path of Exile 2, few can rival the excitement surrounding the introduction of the Druid class. This transformative character has been a focal point on many players’ wishlists since its initial announcement. Developer Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has openly acknowledged the challenges in perfecting this class, making its imminent arrival feel like a festive surprise for the community. For those who have yet to experience this action RPG, there’s even more good news: a free weekend coinciding with the launch.

New Season and Features

The upcoming season is titled Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids. While the Druid class is undoubtedly a significant highlight, players can anticipate a wealth of additional content. GGG is known for its comprehensive updates, and this one promises to deliver a robust array of new features. Alongside the Druid’s unique skills, it’s likely that new abilities for other classes will also be introduced. This will be complemented by an assortment of new support gems and unique items, as well as a potential revamp of the complex passive tree.

Moreover, a fresh league mechanic is almost certainly in the works. Game director Mark Roberts previously indicated GGG’s commitment to introducing new systems with each expansion, ensuring that “each area feels different with something extra going on.” Players can look forward to the possibility of exploring the fifth act of the six planned for the main campaign, encountering new endgame bosses, or experiencing adjustments to the Atlas map. Quality-of-life enhancements are also expected, reflecting GGG’s consistent dedication to improving player experience.

The expansion will be unveiled on Thursday, December 4, at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm GMT / 8 pm CET. Game director Jonathan Rogers has shared encouraging news for those who have been hesitant to dive in. A free weekend for Path of Exile 2 will commence alongside the league launch, allowing newcomers to join the adventure. With a bit of free time, players should be able to complete the full campaign, and any progress made during this period will be saved, enabling a seamless transition should they choose to purchase the game later.

Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids launches on Friday, December 12, at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm GMT / 8 pm CET. The free weekend will run concurrently, concluding on Monday, December 15, at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm GMT / 8 pm CET. Players can access the game for free on Steam, with all progress carrying over should they decide to buy the full version.
