The RoboCop: Rogue City expansion that looks like Dredd will bring more trouble to your PC in July

RoboCop: Rogue City, while not achieving greatness upon its 2023 release, managed to provide an entertaining excursion through a dystopian Detroit. This latest offering marked a significant improvement over Teyon’s previous endeavor with the Terminator franchise. Enthusiasts of the genre will be pleased to learn that an expansion is on the horizon, set to debut in July.

Expansion Details

Titled RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business, this expansion draws substantial inspiration from the 2012 action film Dredd. The connection is particularly evident in the reveal trailer, which references a memorable line from the film. Players will find themselves guiding Murphy through an OmniCorp skyscraper now under the control of mercenaries. The narrative also includes interstitial missions that flash back to Murphy’s earlier days, when he was more cop than cyborg.

The trailer teases new characters that will play pivotal roles in the expansion. Among them is a scientist named Miranda, who will assist Murphy throughout his journey. However, details about her character remain sparse, leaving much to the imagination. Additionally, the mercenary leader appears to have ties to Murphy’s past, potentially echoing Max Becker from the original game, though it remains uncertain if they are indeed the same character.

As anticipation builds for Unfinished Business, there is hope that it will capture more of the style and satire that characterized Paul Verhoeven’s original film. While Rogue City successfully portrayed the essence of Detroit and delivered commendable action sequences, it fell short of embodying the exuberance and biting commentary that fans have come to expect. Nonetheless, with Teyon’s continuous improvement, there is optimism surrounding the expansion’s potential when it launches on July 17.
