The highly anticipated PC version of the Metroidvania-style side-scrolling action game The Spirit of the Samurai is set to make its debut on December 12, as announced by publisher Kwalee and developer Digital Mind. Gamers can look forward to accessing the title on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, with console versions slated for release at a later date. For those eager to get a taste of the action, a demo will be available during the Steam Next Fest: October 2024 Edition, starting October 14.
Game Overview
In The Spirit of the Samurai, players step into the shoes of Takeshi, a valiant Japanese samurai dedicated to defending his village from the relentless attacks of the Oni. Accompanied by Chisai, his courageous feline companion, and a spirited Kodama, Takeshi must face an array of mythical adversaries. The game draws heavily from Japanese mythology, pitting players against legions of tengu, undead creatures, and the fearsome Jorogumo in a captivating stop-motion cinematic adventure.
Defend the Forbidden Village
Players will explore a beautifully crafted world rich in Japanese folklore, traversing through ruined villages, eerie mountain caves, and desolate cemeteries. The game features a variety of enemies, including yokai and demons, all brought to life with a stunning Ray Harryhausen-inspired stop-motion aesthetic.
