Warhammer enthusiasts have a unique charm, and I proudly count myself among them. My allegiance lies with a particularly niche Chapter, one that is defined primarily by its mournful remembrance of their lost Primarch. This Chapter is so obscure that two second founding Chapters are set to debut in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 before the Iron Hands make their appearance. My passion for crafting twisted monstrosities in the name of the Omnissiah is unwavering, yet I find myself indifferent to the allure of ornate embellishments. This sentiment resonates with many fans who have expressed disappointment over the absence of undecorated helmets for older marks of power armor in the game. Thankfully, developer Saber Interactive has finally addressed these concerns.
Embracing Simplicity
It’s understandable that not every player wishes to embody a Chapter Master, lumbering through hordes of Hormagaunts with a heavy load of iconography. Some players prefer to step into the shoes of a humble squaddie, and for them, a helmet devoid of excessive decoration is far more fitting.
Previously, if you wanted to sport a Mark 7 or 8 helmet in Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2, you had to accept the accompanying bling. Your character would shine with the Emperor’s glory, adorned in golden livery while engaging in combat in one of the most acclaimed Warhammer 40k games of recent years.
The only way to obtain a plain Mark 8 helmet before now was through a limited-time event in February 2025, which required linking your PROS account and playing matches across various classes. For those who missed that window or were reluctant to create a third-party account, the opportunity slipped away—until now.
With the release of Space Marine 2 patch 10.1, players can now purchase the Mark 8 Errant helmet without any decorations directly from the in-game store. Saber Interactive has also announced that a plain Mark 7 helmet will be available in the future. While this cosmetic update arrives alongside a host of bug fixes and balance adjustments, it is the unembellished helmets that are likely to capture the attention of many players.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the Trygon now remains visible during gameplay, a welcome change when attempting to decapitate this formidable xenos beast.
