Xbox did not get exclusive streaming rights for GTA VI. PC will also be without a cloud version

Clarification on GTA VI Streaming Rights

In a recent statement, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball addressed the swirling rumors regarding the streaming rights for the highly anticipated game, GTA VI. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights for the game, Ball clarified that this is not the case. The game’s launch is set for November 19, 2026, but it will not be available for cloud streaming on PC.

These clarifications come in light of a report by The Verge journalist Tom Warren, who claimed that Microsoft had entered into an agreement that would allow Xbox Cloud Gaming to be the sole platform for playing Rockstar’s latest title in the cloud at launch. This assertion was reportedly based on comments made by Xbox head Asha Sharma, who hinted at a unique offering for employees that no other platform owner could match.

Ball, however, refuted these claims, stating,

“Glad to see such interest in GTA VI and Xbox, but it also led to erroneous reports. We look forward to GTA VI launching on Xbox on November 19, although the game will not be available for exclusive streaming and will not be streamed on PC.”

As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build among gamers. On November 19, GTA VI will officially launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while the availability of a PC version remains unconfirmed. Industry insider Jez Corden has suggested that the game may not be accessible via any streaming services at launch, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding narrative surrounding this blockbuster title.
