Since their debut in the Heart of Democracy update of Helldivers 2, the SEAF troopers have carved out a special niche in the hearts of players. These NPC soldiers, despite facing overwhelming odds against relentless waves of bugs, bots, and extraterrestrial foes, embody the spirit of perseverance. Their unwavering commitment to the fight for Super Earth is commendable, even as they wield increasingly sophisticated weaponry.
New Buffs for SEAF Troopers
With the recent release of the Devoid of Liberty update, players are now greeted with a revitalized SEAF presence on the battlefield. This update introduces a new array of void-mutated adversaries unleashed by the Illuminate, prompting enhancements to the SEAF’s capabilities. As highlighted in the official blog post, “We have commissioned SEAF platoons to aid in completing operations. They’ll arrive on dropships to fight alongside you and your squad, offering medical support via stims, but also give a boost to your morale when you salute, shake hands, and–of course–hug them.”
Indeed, the ability to hug these blue-clad troopers adds a delightful twist to the gameplay. In my recent gaming session, I discovered that SEAF troopers will momentarily pause their combat actions to accept a morale-boosting embrace. It’s a small gesture that acknowledges their challenging role in the fight for survival.
However, a word of caution: engaging in hugs during intense combat may not be advisable. The risk of becoming entangled in the chaos is real, and one might find themselves sharing a casket rather than a moment of camaraderie. Despite this, the SEAF troopers have transformed into a formidable force, equipped with support weapons and increased troop numbers. They now make periodic appearances via shuttles, bolstering the fight against the relentless enemy.
The new Crusher enemies present a significant challenge, proving to be both resilient and stealthy. Additionally, the fast-moving Wretch enemies, reminiscent of Necromorphs, add a new layer of urgency to encounters, making vigilance essential for survival.
As players gear up for the battles ahead, it’s important to remember to take a moment to appreciate the SEAF contingent. Their contributions, both in combat and morale, are invaluable in the ongoing struggle for Super Earth.
